John Harbaugh on Joe Flacco: 'He's the best quarterback in football'

Jason Bridge / USA TODAY Sports

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh thinks the world of his quarterback.

After Joe Flacco led the Ravens past the Pittsburgh Steelers – for the first time in the playoffs – on Saturday, Harbaugh lavished praise on Flacco.

"Joe Flacco, what can you say. He's the best quarterback in football. We'll take him any day of the week, twice on Sunday or Saturday if that be the case," Harbaugh said, as reported by Jamison Hensley of ESPN.

Flacco was money Saturday. He was 18-of-29 for 259 yards and threw two touchdowns and no interceptions. The 29-year-old's thrown 166 straight passes in the postseason without a pick, the fourth-longest streak in NFL playoff history.

Flacco threw for 3,986 yards and 27 touchdowns, both career highs, in 16 games. He's never passed for 4,000 or more yards in a season before, and has never been to a Pro Bowl, but he seems to save his best work for the playoffs, where he has a 10-4 record, with seven of those wins coming on the road.

Most importantly, he has a ring and a Super Bowl MVP to his name.

Is he the best quarterback in football? That's certainly up for debate, and many will disagree, but you can't fault Harbaugh for saying what he did, not after the Ravens finally beat their rivals Saturday night, in Pittsburgh.

"He's Cool Joe," said Terrell Suggs. " ... Joe didn't change. That's his game. He's going to make plays."
