Larry Fitzgerald is the all-time leader in every major receiving category for the Arizona Cardinals, but he may not return to the club next year.

Fitzgerald is owed $23.6 million next season, a total the Cardinals reportedly do not want to pay, according to FOX Sports's Craig Morgan

This report directly contradicts a statement made by Cardinals general manager Steve Keim on Dec. 22.

"I don't think it's any secret that we said all along that it's our intent to have Larry Fitzgerald retire a Cardinal," Keim said.

Fitzgerald's cap numbers exceed $17 million through 2018, which explains some of the Cardinals' hesitance to retain the 31-year-old.

The eight-time Pro Bowler caught 63 passes for 784 yards and two touchdowns this year. Arizona squares off against the Carolina Panthers on Saturday.
