Penguins' Bennett 'kind of enjoyed the mumps, actually'

Charles LeClaire / USA Today

Everything in life is relative - even a case of mumps.

No one likes to get sick, but mumps was a respite from the bevy of injuries that have conspired to limit Pittsburgh Penguins forward Beau Bennett to seven games this season. The 23-year-old was asking "why me?" after his last knee injury, but told NHL.com's Wes Crosby that his perspective changed after dealing with the illness that is sweeping through NHL dressing rooms.

Bennett hasn't played since Nov. 24, but could return to Pittsburgh's lineup for Wednesday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes. As much as he enjoyed having mumps, he'll probably enjoy being back on the ice even more.
