Report: Jets to make 'significant push' for Ravens assistant GM Eric DeCosta
The New York Jets are in the midst of a complete organizational overhaul, and it appears ownership could be targeting one of the NFL's most highly regarded personnel men to be its next general manager.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Jets are expected to make a significant push to hire current Baltimore Ravens assistant general manager Eric DeCosta.
Of course, many other teams have tried to pry DeCosta from Baltimore in recent seasons, but - considered to be the heir apparent to long-time general manager Ozzie Newsome - he has consistently opted to stay put.
It remains to be seen whether or not the Jets can change his mind this time around, but landing one of the game's top GM candidates would certainly create some optimism for the direction the team is headed going forward.
According to NJ.com's Dom Cosentino, other candidates for the position include Seattle Seahawks director of pro personnel Trent Kirchner, Minnesota Vikings assistant GM George Paton, Philadelphia Eagles director of pro personnel Rick Mueller and Houston Texans scouting director Mike Maccagnan.
