Chicago Bears quarterback Jimmy Clausen has been ruled out for next week's game against the Minnesota Vikings with a concussion, the team announced Monday.

Clausen was diagnosed with a concussion Sunday evening after experiencing delayed symptoms.

Clausen suffered the injury on a helmet-to-helmet hit by Detroit Lions defensive end Ezekiel Ansah on the final drive of the game. The hit drew a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty.

The team says Clausen displayed no signs of concussion immediately after the hit. He experienced delayed symptoms later Sunday evening and contacted the team's training staff.

He was taken to hospital and diagnosed with a concussion, and began the concussion protocol.

Clausen completed 23 of 39 passes for 181 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in his first start in four years Sunday.

The Bears figure to turn back to Jay Cutler in their regular-season finale.
