NFL considering discipline for Lions' Raiola after incident vs. Bears

Mike DiNovo / USA TODAY Sports

The NFL is looking into Sunday's incident in which Detroit Lions center Dominic Raiola appeared to stomp on the ankle of Chicago Bears defensive tackle Ego Ferguson.

"The matter will be reviewed and appropriate discipline will be applied for any potential safety-related rules violations," NFL spokesman Michael Signora said Monday, according to ESPN's Michael Rothstein.

Raiola apologized to Ferguson after the game, claiming that the stomp was unintentional, but it would be no surprise for him to be handed a punishment from the league office.

Raiola drew a $10,000 fine earlier this season after striking New England Patriots defensive end Zach Moore in the back of the head.
