Ravens hurt playoff chances with loss to Texans
The Baltimore Ravens hurt their playoff chances Sunday with a 25-13 loss to the Case Keenum-led Houston Texans.
The Ravens had a chance to clinch a playoff berth with a win, and losses by the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals. The Steelers emerged victorious over the Kansas City Chiefs earlier in the afternoon.
Here is what you need to know:
- Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco came up small, completing 21 of 50 passes for 195 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. His first half was almost historically bad, as he completed a mere three passes for 27 yards and a pair of interceptions.
- Keenum was less mistake-prone than Flacco, completing 20 of 42 passes for 185 yards and an interception. He improved his career record as a starting quarterback to 1-8.
- MVP candidate and noted quarterback destroyer J.J. Watt continued his ongoing quest to steamroll everything that moves, racking up eight combined tackles and a sack.
- Andre Johnson became the second-fastest player in NFL history to reach the 1,000-reception plateau. He finished with six receptions for 65 yards.
- Texans running back Arian Foster rushed for 96 yards on 25 carries. He also tossed a five-yard touchdown pass to C.J. Fiedorowicz in the first half.
- Torrey Smith was the lone bright spot for the Ravens, catching five passes for 59 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
- Justin Forsett failed to generate any meaningful offense from the Ravens' backfield, rushing for 19 yards on 10 carries.
