Eagles' McCoy fine with team turning to Polk in goal line situations

LeSean McCoy is no longer the touchdown-collecting monster he was a few short years ago.

The Philadelphia Eagles running back, who amassed 17 touchdowns in 2011, and found the end zone nine times last season, has only four touchdowns in 14 games in 2014.

Rugged back Chris Polk has emerged as the Eagles go-to man on the goal line recently, scoring a pair of rushing touchdowns on just three snaps against the Dallas Cowboys last week.

McCoy, the obvious workhorse in the Eagles' backfield with 1,132 yards, is comfortable with the team turning to the bigger Polk when power is more important than finesse.

"Some of the short-yardage stuff, Polk's obviously a little bit more powerful back, so they've been giving him some of the runs in short yardage in a couple games, especially last game," McCoy told CSNPhilly's Rueben Frank.

"He's not getting all of them, but if it helps the team, that's what I’m going to do.

"There's just some plays on 3rd-and-1 type of situations where I probably wouldn't have gotten it, where I see him kind of hit a guy, drag a guy and get in there. It's hard to be selfish with a player like Polk to use him to do those type of things."

Polk - an undrafted 25-year-old out of Washington - has rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns in 10 games.
