Report: Hornets finding little traction in Stephenson talks

Lance Stephenson's recent offensive struggles aren't helping heat up the market for his services.

With the Charlotte Hornets reportedly open to dealing their top offseason acquisition, interest around the league has been tepid. The market for Stephenson is said to be lean, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, with no talks - including those with the Indiana Pacers, Stephenson's former team - gaining traction.

Complicating matters more is that the mercurial Stephenson fought through a groin injury Wednesday.

The 24-year-old's disappointing start in Charlotte appeared to be improving as recently as a week ago, but he's gone off the rails once again, shooting just 39.3 percent over his last five games. He's shooting just 38.6 percent overall, 15.1 percent on threes, and averaging 10.2 points, down appreciably from a season ago.

The Hornets also continue to struggle at 6-19, which explains their willingness to cut bait so early on the three-year, $27.4-million deal they gave Stephenson this summer. 

The Pacers' ownership has said publicly they're open to bringing Stephenson back if the basketball decision makes sense, but it doesn't sound as if that's the case.
