Nets' Williams on trade rumors: 'It's business, stuff like that happens'
The Brooklyn Nets are apparently ready for change and looking to bust up their expensive roster. An ESPN report Tuesday said the Nets have made former All-Stars Deron Williams, Brook Lopez and Joe Johnson available in trade talks with other teams.
Williams, who signed a five-year max deal with the Nets in 2012, has been through the trade speculation process before. He was traded to the Nets from the Utah Jazz in February 2011 and seems unconcerned by the swirling rumors.
"I'm not worried about it, man," Williams said, according to Andy Vasquez of The Record. "I'm a Net until they tell me otherwise. ... It's business, stuff like that happens."
The 10-year veteran point guard was then tongue-and-cheek about being made aware of the speculation. When he was traded from the Jazz, he apparently heard about the deal on TV.
"At least I get a little notice this time ... instead of finding out on (ESPN) SportsCenter," Williams said.
Williams had offseason surgery on his ankles after underperforming and batting through injuries last year, and his play has improved as a result. He's averaging 17.1 points and 6.5 assists in 19 games.
