Report: Cam Newton will not be charged following accident

Neither driver is being cited following the two-car collision that left Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton in the hospital with a pair of fractures in his lower back, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police report as relayed by the Charlotte Observer's Steve Lyttle.

The report lists Nestor Pellot Jr. as the other driver involved in the accident and the extent of his injuries are unknown at this point.

According to the report, Newton told police he was driving south on Church Street and Pellot pulled out in front of him. Pellot told police he was crossing Church Street and didn't see Newton's truck coming.

Two witnesses are listed on the official collision report, and each said Pellot appeared to pull out in front of Newton, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Newton was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday morning.
