Wizards' Nene returns in win over Nuggets

Brad Mills / USA TODAY Sports

Nene returned to the court Friday after a bout with plantar fasciitis in his right foot forced him to miss five games.

Although he didn't get the start at power forward, Nene logged 18 minutes off the bench, scoring eight points and grabbing eight rebounds in the Washington Wizards' 119-89 victory over the Denver Nuggets

Nene, who was a game-time decision, played despite not being able to participate in a full practice leading up to the contest.

"It's still hurting a little bit," he said after the game. "But we expected that."

Kris Humphries received his sixth consecutive start Friday and erupted for a season-high 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field. It's unclear whether the first-place Wizards will continue to start him while they ease Nene back.
