Report: Canucks' Hamhuis may hold off on surgery

Veteran Vancouver Canucks defenseman Dan Hamhuis is hoping to avoid surgery.
The steady shutdown defender, an Olympic Gold Medalist with the Canadian men's team at the 2014 Winter Olympics, sustained a groin injury in a freak play earlier this month.
"The Canucks are being really guarded - they won't say what the injury is," said Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman during Saturday's Headlines segment on "Hockey Night in Canada."
Friedman elaborated further on his report on Twitter.
"Hearing (Hamhuis) will be re-evaluated in two weeks," Friedman tweeted, "and he may hold off on surgery."
Hamhuis, 31, has been obscenely durable over the course of his NHL career. Until this past week he had missed a combined 33 games in his 11-year NHL career.
