Though embattled New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez maintained his innocence even as he served a season-long suspension for his role in the infamous Biogenesis scandal, the 39-year-old reportedly admitted in January to using performance-enhancing drugs provided to him by Anthony Bosch.

According to a report from the Miami Herald, Rodriguez told prosecutors and federal agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration that he paid Bosch roughly $12,000 a month and received syringes for hormone injections from the proprietor of the Coral Gables anti-aging clinic. Rodriguez, however, had been granted immunity by his prosecutors and continued to publicly deny his drug use.

The 15-page synopsis of Rodriguez's meeting with federal agents from Jan. 29 contains several notable admissions from the 14-time All-Star, who said he paid Bosch for supplies of testosterone cream, lozenges laced with testosterone, and human growth hormone injections. Rodriguez also said Bosch provided tips on how to circumvent Major League Baseball's drug-testing apparatus.

“Rodriguez injected the HGH into his stomach,” the DEA report stated. “Rodriguez said Bosch told him the HGH would help with sleep, weight, hair growth, eyesight and muscle recovery.”

Rodriguez's testimony will likely be used by prosecutors in the criminal case against Bosch and Yuri Sucart, the veteran's cousin who helped Rodriguez procure the drugs recently pled not guilty to criminal charges for his involvement in the case.

Rodriguez was recently reinstated by MLB after serving his 162-game suspension, the longest ever handed out for a drug violation.
