New Orleans Saints safety Jairus Byrd has been placed on season-ending injured reserve after tearing his lateral meniscus, head coach Sean Payton announced Friday.
The reason Payton is telling us is b/c he wanted to let Byrd tell his dad first. More important than getting the advantage on the opponent

Byrd suffered the injury on a non-contact play during Thursday's practice. He will be replaced by Rafael Bush.
Byrd is in his first season with the Saints after signing a six-year, $54-million contract with the team in free agency.
