NFL denies receiving Ray Rice video

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL has refuted a report alleging that league security chief Jeffrey Miller received a copy of the Ray Rice assault video in April.

A law enforcement official speaking on the condition of anonymity stated Thursday that the league had received the package, but wasn't willing to say whether Miller ever viewed the video.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy released the following statement to USA TODAY's Nancy Armour on Friday.

Our office has found absolutely no evidence to support the claim of the anonymous 'law enforcement source' that he sent a video to us or that he received a telephone call to his 'disposable cell phone' from an unidentified female using an NFL line.

Rice was released and indefinitely suspended by the league on Sept. 8. The NFL has maintained that it never had access to the Rice videos ahead of time.
