Vanderbilt's Jordan Cunningham takes leave of absence for 'personal issues'

Vanderbilt sophomore wide receiver Jordan Cunningham has taken a leave of absence from the football program for personal reasons, revealed head coach Derek Mason, as reported by The Tennessean. 

"Jordan has taken a leave of absence from the football team for personal reasons," Mason told the media after practice on Tuesday. "He spoke to the team this morning. It's unfortunate. He loves his teammates. There are some personal issues he is trying to deal with. With that, we ask that you respect that, and we are going to respect it."

Cunningham did not play in last Saturday's 48-34 loss to South Carolina. He has four receptions for 27 yards and no touchdowns in three games this season. 

A Vanderbilt spokesperson confirmed that the sophomore receiver is still enrolled in school and plans to finish this semester. 

The Vanderbilt Commodores travel to face the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday.
