Report: E'Twaun Moore's 2-year deal with Bulls has 50% 1st-year guarantee

More than a month ago, rumor had it that the Chicago Bulls were set to sign point guard E'Twuan Moore to a contract. In the time since, no official announcement has been made, and contract details were scarce until today.

Moore's deal with the Bulls is for two seasons, with the first year being 50 percent guaranteed, according to Shams Charania of RealGM. In other words, the guarantee makes the contract appreciably more than a standard "small guarantee on a training camp deal," and indicates the Bulls have fairly clear intentions to break camp with Moore on the roster.

The Bulls are generally tight with the purse strings, and it's a franchise where every dollar matters. Not only does Moore provide additional insurance behind Derrick Rose, in a pinch, he should compete with Tony Snell for minutes behind Jimmy Butler at the two.

Still just 25, the former second round pick of the Boston Celtics has impressed over three seasons, hitting 35 percent of his threes and providing solid defense with his 6-foot-4 frame. Depending on the dollar amount – it's almost certainly at the league minimum of $948,163 for his amount of service time  this represents a smart depth play for the Bulls.
