Bengals dominate Falcons, extend home winning streak to 10 games

Despite losing wide receiver A.J. Green to a toe injury, the Cincinnati Bengals had no trouble shutting down the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon, winning 24-10. Cincinnati improved to 2-0 on the season and remains in sole possession of first place in the AFC North.

Here's what you need to know...

  • The victory marks the first time since 2006 that Cincinnati has opened the season 2-0. 
  • Green left the game in the first quarter with a right toe injury and did not return. It is the same injury that kept Green out of Thursday's practice.
  • Cincinnati also lost backup tight end Alex Smith (knee), defensive tackle Brandon Thompson (biceps) and linebacker Vontaze Burfict (stinger). 
  • The Falcons struggled mightily to keep up with the Bengals' offense. Cincinnati finished the first half with 293 total yards, while Atlanta managed only 98. 
  • Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan completed 24-of-44 passes for 231 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions, while his Bengals counterpart, Andy Dalton, went 15-of-23 for 252 yards with one touchdown. 
  • Bengals running back Giovani Bernard rushed for 90 yards on 27 carries and added a team-high five receptions for 79 yards.
