Ravens terminate contract of Ray Rice; suspended indefinitely by league

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Ray Rice's tenure in Baltimore is over.

In light of new surveillance footage of Rice punching his wife (then-fiancee) inside a casino elevator in February, the NFL has also suspended the running back indefinitely, league spokesman Greg Aiello announced.

In an earlier statement, the NFL said it requested "any and all information about the incident, including the video" from law enforcement in its initial investigation, but the footage was not made available prior to Monday.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, Rice's deal with the Ravens carries $9.5 million in dead money next year.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh spoke with reporters Monday night, and said he and others in the Ravens' front office saw the inside-the-elevator footage for the first time Monday, and that it "changed things."
