Arkansas-Little Rock athletic director resigns after comments about player's mom caught on microphone
University of Arkansas-Little Rock athletic director Chris Peterson resigned suddenly on Tuesday after being caught on a hot mic talking about the mother of a student-athlete last month during a live broadcast.
Peterson's inappropriate comments were made in a press box conversation with members of the school's sports information staff during a women's soccer game between UALR and Chicago State, reports the Arkansas Times.
The microphone was left on during a video feed for the school's website, transmitting sound during the first half of the game, and broadcasting Peterson's comments unknowingly.
Chancellor Joel Anderson said in a statement, “What one hears from the Director of Athletics on the live video transmission of the women’s soccer game on August 22 is unacceptable for a person in a University leadership position. Director Peterson apologized for it and resigned.”
Peterson was starting his 15th year as the athletic director for the University of Arkansas-Little Rock athletic director.
