Sami Khedira rejected contract from Real Madrid
In what is perhaps the clearest sign yet that Sami Khedira's days at the Santiago Bernabéu are done, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti spoke on Thursday about a contract offer that was rejected by the defensive midfielder.
However, unlike Angel di Maria, who has asked for a transfer, Khedira hasn't openly stated his desire to leave.
"It's a different situation to Di Maria," Ancelotti said. "He's not asked to go. He's rejected an offer to renew but has a year of contract. We'll see what happens."
With Real Madrid's signing of Khedira's Germany teammate Toni Kroos and Colombia's James Rodriguez, an already-crowded midfield will see Khedira face stiff competition for playing time, something a player of his caliber would be unlikely to find at other clubs.
Khedira's agents were reportedly in London recently to discuss a possible transfer of their client to Arsenal or Chelsea. However, depending on the extent of Mikel Arteta's injury, the Gunners might be in more dire need of Khedira's services than their London rivals.
