NHL confirms outdoor game for Kings and Sharks at Levi's Stadium
The NHL hit a snag in its secretive operation with a Ticketmaster flub Sunday, and announced Wednesday that the San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings will play in an outdoor game this season.
The game will be played at Levi's Stadium, the home of the NFL's San Francisco 49ers, on February 21 at 10 p.m. ET. The game is part of the Coors Light Stadium Series.
Commissioner Gary Bettman is looking to add to the rivalry that is Californian hockey.
The growing excitement around NHL hockey in California hockey, the intensity of last season's playoff series between these teams and the state-of-the-art setting at Levi's Stadium will bring a thrilling new dimension to the Kings-Sharks rivalry.
On Thursday, a limited number of tickets will be available for sale for Sharks season-ticket holders only (as the Sharks are the home team).
The game will be the first outdoor game in Northern California.
