Rashard Lewis to undergo surgery on right knee

Having just agreed to a one-year deal reportedly valued at the $1.4-million veteran minimum, Rashard Lewis will be going under the knife ahead of his Dallas Mavericks debut.

"Rashard discovered he needs a medical procedure on his right knee to ensure he functions at a high level this season," Lewis' agent Colin Bryant told Yahoo! Sports.

While the seriousness of the surgery has yet to be revealed, it's being reported that the Mavericks were unaware of Lewis' knee situation before they extended an offer his way. And given the nature of the situation, Dallas can apparently unplug themselves from the deal.

The 2013-14 season saw Lewis appear in 60 regular season games, during which time he averaged 4.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, and one assist.
