Report: Rangers' Brassard seeking $5.5M per season, Zuccarello wants $4.5M

New York Rangers restricted free agents Derick Brassard and Mats Zuccarello filed for arbritation earlier this month, and now we have a sense of what they believe they're worth on potential multi-year deals.

Brassard is seeking $5.5 million per season, while Zuccarello is looking for $4.5 million annually in a multi-year contract, according to Larry Brooks of the New York Post.

Per Brooks:

The Rangers are attempting to negotiate long-term contracts with both that would entail “buying out” years of unrestricted free agency and thus would increase their annual cap hits over what they would command in arbitration.

Zuccarello, who would likely be in the $3.7 million-$4 million arbitration range off his club-leading 59-point season (19-40), is believed seeking a multi-year deal for at least $4.5 million per. Brassard, who would likely be in the $4.5 million-$4.75 million arbitration range off his 45-point (17-28) year, is believed to be looking for a long-term deal worth approximately $5.5 million per.

Chris Kreider also filed for arbitration, and defenseman John Moore has yet to be re-signed. The Rangers have about $13 million free to commit for next season, via CapGeek.

Zuccarello tied for the team lead with 40 assists and led the Rangers with 59 points in 2013-14.

Brassard scored 18 goals and registered 27 assists in 81 games last season, adding six goals and six assists in 23 playoff games.
