Argentinean journalist dies after crash in Brazil; Diego Simeone notifies wife over Twitter

Minutouno

An Argentinean journalist died Wednesday after the taxi taking him to his hotel was struck by a stolen vehicle fleeing police in Sao Paulo.

Jorge “Topo” López , 38, who was in Brazil covering the World Cup for La Red Radio, was on his way to his hotel when the stolen vehicle struck his cab at 1:30 a.m. as they were being chased by military police. The impact of the crash ejected Lopez out of the vehicle, while the driver of the taxi only suffered minor injuries.

The three suspects in the stolen car reportedly didn't suffer any injuries and were arrested by authorities.

Unfortunately, Atleticio Madrid manager and former Argentina midfielder Diego Simeone, in an effort to pay his condolences, unintentionally notified Lopez's wife, Veronica Brunati, of the death before she was aware of the accident during his tribute on Twitter when he included her handle

“No. Diego, don’t tell me that. Someone, please call me,” was Brunati's heartbreaking response.
