The St. Louis Blues have come to terms with center Patrik Berglund on a three-year contract extension, the team announced Thursday. Berglund, a pending restricted free agent managed 32 points in 78 games with the Blues a year ago and has been at the center of trade rumors in the lead up to this week's NHL Entry Draft.
Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that the contract will pay the big, 26-year-old Swedish center $11.1 million in total, and will carry an averaged annual salary of $3.7 million.
Rutherford also suggests that the timing of the contract signing might indicate that the Blues are preparing to turn around and flip Berglund in a draft day trade.
