Report: Stars 'have kicked tires' on Senators' Spezza
As Friday's draft nears, the Ottawa Senators' quest to accommodate Jason Spezza's trade plea continues to intensify as yet another Western Conference club has reportedly inquired.
With a stocked farm system, the Stars have the means to land the offensively-gifted captain and are certainly an intriguing option. The upstart club is in need of center-ice support behind superstar Tyler Seguin, and Spezza would quite effectively slot into that second-line role.
The Stars own the 14th-overall selection in the draft and will assuredly have to part with the pick, along with at least one top prospect, in order to land the five-time 30-goal scorer.
The St. Louis Blues, Anaheim Ducks, Phoenix Coyotes, Nashville Predators and Florida Panthers have also expressed in Spezza, who has one year and $7 million remaining on his current deal.
