The Boston Bruins announced Monday afternoon they signed goaltender Niklas Svedberg to a one-year, one-way contract worth $600,000.

From the Bruins:

The Swedish netminder finished the 2013-14 season with Providence (American Hockey League), compiling a 25-15-4 record with a 2.63 goals against average and .910 save percentage with two shutouts in 45 appearances.

Svedberg won the only game he played with the Bruins last season in overtime against the Nashville Predators.

Svedberg will take over for Chad Johnson, who backed up Rask last year. Johnson, 28, was solid in 27 games, winning 17 and posting a .925 save percentage.
