Report: Marino to withdraw from concussion lawsuit
One day after it was reported that Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino would be part of a new concussion lawsuit being filed against the NFL, Marino reportedly asked to be withdrawn.
Marino and his lawyers will seek to remove him from the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
“It was never Marino’s intention to initiate litigation in this case, but to ensure that in the event he had adverse health consequences down the road, he would be covered with health benefits. They are working to correct the error,” a source told the publication.
The 52-year-old and his legal team are trying to figure out how his name was added to the lawsuit.
MMQB's Andrew Brandt says even if Marino's name is removed, he still stands to benefit.
Whether he is suing or not, Marino is swept into the overall settlement, as are all retired players. Can collect as plaintiff or not.
