Report: Sean Lee's MRI shows torn ACL, no further damage

Tim Heitman-US PRESSWIRE

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee, the quarterback of the team's defense, is expected to miss the 2014 season after tearing his ACL in a drill at OTAs on Tuesday.

There remains a small chance Lee could return to the field late in the season, however, as the Cowboys could decide to place Lee on IR-designated to return. In that case, Lee would be eligible to return to the field after Week 8.

It's a tall order for Lee to recover from a torn ACL in time to play football this calendar year, but one thing working in his favor is that, per NFL Network's Albert Breer, Lee suffered only a torn ACL and no additional damage in his knee.

The Cowboys won't have to make a decision on whether to send Lee to IR or IR-designated to return until well after he has surgery.
