5 of the worst 1st pitches

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Rapper 50 Cent's noodle arm got us thinking about a national pastime as revered as the game itself: People who embarrass themselves throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.

It would be easy to roast everyday people for their lack of athleticism but that's not as fun as laughing at celebrities, so we've confined this space to VIP only.

So, here they are, ranging from bad to terrible, five of the worst first pitches ever thrown at a baseball game.

Carly Rae Jepsen

Canadian musician Carly Rae Jepsen was probably on cloud nine when she was asked to throw out the first pitch at Tropicana Field last summer. The small-town Jepsen had finally made it, riding her hit single "Call Me Maybe" all the way into talk show appearances and big sporting events.

But after this performance, we were left wondering if she should have practiced, maybe?

Carl Lewis

We have a special place in our heart for athletes who have an inflated sense of worth and proceed to embarrass themselves. Carl Lewis, knows all too well what that's like.

But the man who once butchered the U.S. national anthem, one-upped himself by failing at something he made a living out of: sports.

The best part of Lewis' feeble throw is him pumping up the Safeco Field crowd first. Never change, Carl.

John Wall

Sticking with professional athletes, NBA star John Wall sure picked the right sport.

Wall appeared to confuse baseball and bowling, but at least he was a good sport about it. After all, you can bet the fans at Nationals Park were more concerned with his jumper than his fastball.

Mariah Carey

Turning our attention back to musicians, it's safe to say Mariah Carey's peformance at the Tokyo Dome didn't win her a Grammy.

The R&B singer came decked out like any celebrity might if they had to perform an act of athletiscm - in tiny jean shorts and high heels.

Carey's throw barely dribbled its way to the plate, but she managed to win the fashion portion of the evening.

Mark Mallory

Mark Mallory, the former Mayor of Cincinnati, gave the citizens of his hometown something they won't soon forget: the worst pitch ever thrown by a politician.

As if he knew just how bad things were about to get, Mallory barely musters the effort to follow through with the pitch, resulting in the best reaction of all-time from former Reds star Eric Davis.

Even President Obama is laughing.
