Flyers' Wayne Simmonds records 1st career playoff hat trick

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Flyers defeated the New York Rangers 5-2 thanks in part to a playoff milestone by Wayne Simmonds.

Simmonds recorded his first career playoff hat trick in Game 6 on Tuesday, picking up where he left off when he led the Flyers in scoring during the regular season.

Simmonds scored his first goal by sliding the puck around Henrik Lundqvist on the doorstep during a first-period power play:

Simmonds banged home a loose puck after teammate Brayden Schenn lost the handle on a rush early in the second period for his second of the contest:

Simmonds redirected a Jakub Voracek shot with Derek Dorsett serving a tripping penalty to complete the hat trick:

Not too shabby, especially considering the Flyers came into Game 6 versus the Rangers facing elimination.
