Kings turn the tables, chase Antti Niemi in Game 4

Kirby Lee / USA TODAY Sports

Down 3-0 in their opening-round Stanley Cup playoff series, the Los Angeles Kings are a desperate team on the brink of elimination. And what do we say to the god of elimination (in a hypothetical world in which we're being coached to play hockey by Braavosi swordsman Syrio Forel): "Not today!"

In Game 4 of their series against the San Jose Sharks, the Los Angeles Kings have taken the initiative (finally) and are handily blowing out their NorCal rivals. The Kings managed their fifth goal early in the third period when forward Marian Gaborik beat Antti Niemi for the second time. That ended Niemi's evening as he was replaced by backup netminder Alex Stalock.

It wasn't Niemi's best game, as the 2010 Stanley Cup winner managed to stop only 21 of the 26 shots he faced.
