Report: Sideline reporter Craig Sager to undergo leukemia treatment
Craig Sager has probably always been known best for his wardrobe; for those outlandish suits - in all manner of clashing colors and patterns - that people can't believe he wears on television and yet can't imagine him without.
But to only harp on his trademark sartorial choices would be to short-change one of the great sideline reporters, and, more importantly, one of the great personalities the NBA has going.
Sager has been a mainstay on TNT broadcasts for years, and whether he's been conducting an interview in earnest or getting good-naturedly goofed on by players for his absurd pocket squares, he's always made basketball broadcasts a little more colorful, a little more fun. The best thing about Sager is that, while you can tell he loves his job, you never get the sense that he takes it, or himself, too seriously.
All of which makes the news that Sager has been diagnosed with leukemia, and will reportedly miss this year's NBA playoffs to undergo treatment, particularly difficult to stomach.
Deadspin picked up the report, which came directly from Sager's son's Twitter page, on Thursday night.

It's hard to see the NBA playoffs being the same without the retina-burning spectacle of Sager on the sidelines. How to replace the guy who once gleefully indulged (the artist formerly known as) Ron Artest and shouted out Queensbridge?
