76ers snap 26-game losing streak, avoid setting NBA record for most consecutive losses

They did it. They finally did it. The Philadelphia 76ers finally won a game. They defeated the Detroit Pistons by a score of 123-98.

Their last win came exactly two months ago, when a buzzer-beating jumpshot by Evan Turner (since traded) lifted the Sixers over the Boston Celtics by a score of 95-94.

Had the Sixers lost their 27th game in a row, they would have set the record for most consecutive losses across all four major North American sports.

The Sixers were led in scoring by guard Michael Carter-Williams and forward Thaddeus Young, who both had 21 points apiece. Carter-Williams also chipped in with 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.

Along the way, the Sixers set a number of season highs in the victory, including their biggest lead in a game at 32 points near the end of the third

However, the biggest winner in this whole ordeal is not the Sixers, but rather the Milwaukee Bucks, who have fought tooth-and-nail to remain behind Philadelphia in the standings in the interests of securing favorable odds in the NBA lottery. The Bucks sit 2 games back of Philadelphia.

As you can imagine, it's tough to be worse than the owners of a 26-game losing streak. Hopefully, the Sixers' result will give the Bucks (management) some peace of mind.
