Ducks sign F Tim Jackman to one year contract extension

The Anaheim Ducks have come to terms with enforcer Tim Jackman on a one year contract extension worth $637,500, per Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register.

Jackman scored 10 goals for the Calgary Flames during the 2010-11 season, but has managed only four goals in the three seasons since. Despite his lack of production, Jackman is a relatively capable puck possession player and is well in the black by shot attempt differential in his 20 games with Anaheim this season.

Jackman's principal value, however, is derived from his fists. Jackman doesn't play much on a per game basis - he's averaging just over seven minutes per contest for the Ducks this season - but when he's in the lineup he's likely to throw down.

In just 29 games this season Jackman has taken part in nine fights. Over the past three seasons he's fought 31 times while racking up an 11-12-8 record in those bouts as judged by hockeyfights.com voters.
