Young, who is currently missing an indefinite amount of time because of a sprained ankle, will continue to have his injury evaluated over the weekend by the Pacers, who have to make a decision on his non-guaranteed contract by Monday, the Indianapolis Star reports. "There's never a good time for an injury, but this really isn't a good time for a number of reasons," Pacers coach Frank Vogel said.
Young was signed primarily as a defensive specialist -- he was needed Friday against Boston's Paul Pierce and will be missed against Miami's LeBron James and New York's Carmelo Anthony next week -- but his ankle injury comes at a time when the team needs to make a decision whether or not to guarantee his salary for the remainder of the season. Beyond Paul George, the Pacers don't have a legit defender on the wing who can man up against physical wings, so Young has that working in his favor.
