New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis says there's nothing to report on the Malcolm Butler front.

The team has been in talks to acquire the New England Patriots cornerback all offseason, but hours before the NFL draft, Loomis said the trade chatter has essentially died off.

"We haven't really had any discussions for quite some time," Loomis said, according to Josh Katzenstein of the Times-Picayune. "And look, he's their player. So, we'll see how that evolves."

Asked directly whether Butler is still an option for the team, Loomis responded, "I don't know that."

The Saints and Patriots have already come together on one trade this offseason, as New Orleans swapped receiver Brandin Cooks and a fourth-round pick for the No. 32 selection and a third-rounder in the upcoming draft. Butler signed his free-agent tender with New England, but a deal with New Orleans could kick back into high gear as general managers communicate with one another during the draft.
