Jets told Jamal Adams he's wasting his time visiting teams outside Top 5

Perhaps mock-drafters in the football community should have Jamal Adams locked in as a top-five pick.

Anything can happen at the main event of the NFL offseason, but a certain team selecting just outside that range doesn't appear to be getting its hopes up for a chance to select the former LSU star.

Adams told ESPN's Jenna Laine that the New York Jets, who hold the No. 6 overall pick, essentially informed him that he's wasting his time even making the visit to the team facility.

The majority of projections to this point in the pre-draft process indeed have Adams hearing his name called within the first few picks.

Should he end up sliding past the Tennessee Titans at No. 5, the Jets would have an interesting decision to make. Is Adams considered the type of impact defender that leads to New York passing on a quarterback?

Team officials seemingly being on board with the assessments that put him in the elite category of a talented draft class would appear to indicate that it's a possibility.

Adams was a highly productive defensive back over three years at LSU, earning praise for his leadership and impact in all phases of the defensive game.
