Sister of Celtics' Isaiah Thomas killed in car accident
Chyna Thomas, Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas' sister, died Saturday at age 22 after a car accident in Washington state.
"We are terribly saddened by the tragic loss of Chyna Thomas," the Celtics said in a Twitter statement. "The thoughts & prayers of the entire organization are with Isaiah & his family."
Chyna died at the scene of the accident after crashing into a large metal pole around 5 a.m. ET, according to Craig Sailor of the Tacoma News Tribune.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver released his own statement Saturday:
"The NBA family mourns the tragic passing of Chyna Thomas and we send our deepest condolences to Isaiah, his family and the Celtics organization during this difficult time."
Isaiah is still expected to play in the Celtics' upcoming matchup against the Chicago Bulls on Sunday, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman.
