Report: Lynch, Raiders nearing agreement on deal

Beast Mode is back ... almost.

It was initially reported that Marshawn Lynch had agreed to a deal with the Oakland Raiders by Michael Silver of NFL Network. However, it might not be set in stone just yet.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport followed up his colleague's report, saying Lynch and the Raiders haven't yet settled on the parameters for a reworked contract, though the expectation is that it will happen.

Albert Breer of MMQB.com echoed Rapoport's report that it is expected to be completed, stating the deal "isn't quite done."

Lynch, himself, seemed to confirm on Twitter that nothing with the Raiders has been agreed upon.

The Raiders and Seahawks have yet to work out trade compensation for the running back, as Seattle still owns Lynch's rights following his retirement in 2016, sources told Tom Pelissero of USA TODAY Sports.

But the Seahawks aren't expected to require much to give up the 31-year-old, with a late-round pick likely enough.

Seahawks general manager John Schneider said his strong relationship with the Raiders means he expects a move will be made "in a smooth manner."

Lynch may be the final piece that propels the Raiders' offense - which already boasts Derek Carr, Amari Cooper, and Michael Crabtree - from great into the elite category.

There will be a slight concern that the veteran runner's skills have diminished, though. Lynch struggled through injury in his last season in 2015, averaging 3.8 yards per attempt and looking like a shell of his former self.

But Lynch could thrive with a less strenuous workload in the Raiders' pass-first offense.
