Lawson brothers transferring to Kansas after leaving Memphis

Former Memphis guards Dedric and K.J. Lawson will transfer to Kansas, according to their father, Keelon, who told Gary Parrish of CBS.

The brothers announced their intentions to transfer from Memphis last week, after Dedric completed his sophomore campaign and K.J. finished his redshirt freshman season.

Dedric averaged 19.2 points and 9.9 rebounds in 2016-17, while K.J. averaged 12.3 points and 8.1 rebounds.

Dedric, the younger of the two brothers, reclassified from the 2016 recruiting class to the 2015 recruiting class to join K.J. and his father at Memphis, after Keelon was hired as an assistant coach in 2015.

K.J. only played in 10 games in the 2015-16 season due to injury, receiving a medical redshirt.

The two will have to sit out one season due to mandatory NCAA transfer rules, and will both having two years of eligibility remaining.
