It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad world, folks.

Madison Bumgarner, the San Francisco Giants ace who's clearly determined to lead the majors in home runs this year, made history Sunday at Chase Field, where he gave his club a late 4-3 lead over the Arizona Diamondbacks with his second tater of the afternoon - a towering, seventh-inning solo shot off reliever Andrew Chafin - while becoming the first pitcher in MLB history to hit multiple homers on Opening Day.

Bumgarner, who took Zack Greinke deep two innings earlier to move into a tie for most career homers among Giants pitchers (15), also had a perfect game going through 5 1/3 innings before things unraveled - and the Giants' 3-0 lead evaporated - in the bottom of the sixth.

With his unforgettable performance Sunday, the four-time All-Star now has 14 homers since the start of the 2014 season. No other pitcher has gone deep more than four times over that span.
