White wants July 8 for GSP-Bisping, hopes to make date official by next week

Georges St-Pierre's long-awaited return to the Octagon could soon have a date.

Last month, the former UFC welterweight champ was booked to end a three-year layoff in a middleweight title bout with reigning champ Michael Bisping, and while the fighters seemingly can't get on the same page regarding a date, UFC president Dana White revealed Friday fight fans will be able to mark their calendars in about a week's time.

"There are some things that we have to wait for. I'm assuming, probably in another week, I should have a date," White told TSN's Aaron Bronsteter.

St-Pierre has been pushing for a September date, Bisping for July's International Fight Week in Las Vegas, and if the UFC boss has any say on the matter, it looks like the middleweight champ will get his way.

"If it's up to me it will be in Vegas, yes. July 8."

UFC 213 falls on White's target date, the third event of a yearly extravaganza covering as many days in the combat sports mecca. A welterweight bout between Robbie Lawler and Donald Cerrone, a rubber match between Fabricio Werdum and Alistair Overeem, and a heavyweight bout between Travis Browne and Aleksei Oleinik have been attached the card, although none have been made official.
