NYSAC clears Gonzalez to fight Calvillo at UFC 210 after fuss over implants
Pearl Gonzalez's UFC debut has been salvaged.
After reports claimed Gonzalez had been pulled from her strawweight fight with Cynthia Calvillo at Saturday's UFC 210 in Buffalo because the New York State Athletic Commission does not allow fighters with breast implants to compete in the state, ESPN's Brett Okamoto revealed Friday the commission had cleared Gonzalez to fight "after careful consideration and review, including a conversation with her treating physician."

The news came moments after UFC president Dana White took to Twitter to announce the bout was still a go.

The 30-year-old had reportedly been pulled moments after making the strawweight limit at Friday's weigh-ins, with the commission guideline citing "concern over rupture" as the reason, although Gonzalez had presumably passed all her pre-fight medicals. The move's tardiness appears to have prompted the ensuing review, and the strawweight's promotional debut will now proceed as scheduled.
