Liverpool looks certain to be without Adam Lallana for the upcoming Merseyside derby after news that a thigh injury will rule the English midfielder out of action for up to a month.

Despite lasting the entirety of England's match against Lithuania on Sunday, it appears as though Lallana suffered a knock serious enough that he will now be forced to miss up to four weeks, reports The Telegraph's Chris Bascombe.

Lallana was absent from Liverpool's training session Tuesday, but the Reds have yet to confirm the injury.

The blow comes just days before the season's final Merseyside derby as Liverpool gets set to clash with rival Everton on Saturday at Anfield.

Lallana could also miss matches against Bournemouth, Stoke City, West Brom, Crystal Palace, and possibly the May 1 encounter with Watford.

It's the second time this season that Lallana has returned from international duty with a significant knock after he was forced to miss several weeks before the new year due to a groin injury.

Liverpool currently occupies the fourth spot in the table, but could soon slide down to sixth considering the teams trailing the Reds - Manchester United and Arsenal - have two games in hand.
