Warriors' Kerr disputes report: 'We have great respect for the Thunder'

A report emerged late Sunday that the Golden State Warriors were "furious and bewildered" by the Oklahoma City Thunder's treatment of Kevin Durant in his return last month.

Although Warriors head coach Steve Kerr hadn't read the story, he was informed of it, and brushed off those claims Monday.

"I don't agree," he said. "(Thunder GM) Sam Presti's a friend of mine. I know (team owner) Clay Bennett. It's a class organization all the way, so I don't really pay any attention to a story like that unless there's an actual name that's put on it.

"I assume it's just 'sources.' Is it 'sources'? I don't know who that is. It's nobody with the Warriors. We have great respect for the Thunder. Sam's been a friend of mine forever. They're first class. I don't know where that comes from."

Golden State will take on OKC at Chesapeake Energy Arena on Monday in their last head-to-head meeting of the regular season. The Warriors have dominated the series 3-0 behind Durant, who joined the team last summer following nine years with the Thunder. In the three previous matchups against his former club, he's averaging 37.7 points - his highest mark against any team - to go with 9.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists.

Oklahoma didn't acknowledge KD's tenure in his Feb. 11 return, while the crowd was anything but kind to him. This time around, though, the former MVP won't be suiting up, as he's recovering from a knee injury. Kerr couldn't confirm whether or not Durant will sit on the bench during Monday's contest.
