Cousins misses game against Rockets after undergoing MRI

Chuck Cook / USA TODAY Sports

New Orleans Pelicans center DeMarcus Cousins missed Friday's game against the Houston Rockets with a sore left knee and a right rib contusion. He underwent an MRI earlier in the day, and results came back negative.

News of the MRI came as a concern, as Cousins has not missed any time due to injury since arriving from the Sacramento Kings last month. He played 30 minutes in both of the Pelicans' last two games.

Cousins hasn't had a seamless transition playing next to Anthony Davis in New Orleans. Prior to the trade, he was averaging close to 28 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 45.1 percent with the Kings. With the Pelicans, those numbers are 20.7, 11.8, and 42.6.
