The Baltimore Ravens have reached a four-year contract agreement to sign free-agent cornerback Brandon Carr, the team announced Thursday.

Official terms were not disclosed, but the deal reportedly amounts to a one-year arrangement with several options that can be worth up to $24 million if it carries through the 2020 season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Along with the high-priced addition of safety Tony Jefferson, Carr is the second major upgrade for Baltimore's defensive backfield this offseason.

The former fifth-round pick spent the first four years of his career with the Kansas City Chiefs before catching on with the Dallas Cowboys for the last five.

While starting every possible game over that stretch - recording a combined 15 interceptions and 110 passes defensed - Carr has quietly remained a steady presence in coverage.

He will be the favorite to start opposite Jimmy Smith in rounding out a suddenly strong Ravens secondary with Jefferson and Eric Weddle on the back end.
